What the White House is Talking About:
President Trump today appears in the Rose Garden to speak to the March for Life via satellite. Later, he's scheduled to go to Mar-a-Lago with first lady Melania Trump, but shutdown -- see below.

What the White House Press Corps is Talking About:
Shutdown, or no shutdown. That is the question.
We have a live update page in case you want to follow along.

Trump's Mad:
The President this morning tweeted in that sort of haiku-esque way that he sometimes does. He's clearly upset with Democrats, and warns that if a shutdown happens, it's all on the Senate to take the blame.

If a shutdown does happen, he won't go to Mar-a-Lago tonight as scheduled, says the White House. But he might still go tomorrow because there's a party to celebrate his first year in office.

Party People:
Speaking of that party, it's being held to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Trump's inauguration. Put on by his top donors, the money raised goes to the Donald Trump Victory Fund -- tickets were sold for as much as $250,000, which covers dinner and participation in a round-table discussion with the President.

David Fahrenthold has a fascinating story today about the party at Mar-a-Lago that was held last night by a group called the Trumpettes, who sold tickets for the bargain price of $300 and decorated the grand ballroom with life-size cardboard cutouts of Trump. It honestly sounded like a great time.
This Ivanka Photo Tho:
The New York Times' Doug Mills got this pretty spectacular snap of Ivanka Trump departing Marine One yesterday at Andrews AFB after she returned from Pittsburgh. It's drama with the black and white. (Note: I can't find this coat, so I've dropped the ball on Dress Like the First Daughter. But ask Hunter, I totally went down a rabbit hole of obsessively looking for it this morning online for like an hour. If anyone knows who makes it, HMU. But her bag is the Soho from her own line.)

Our Daily Melania:
I have a little feature today on the year in Melania. It's a recap and overview of some stuff she did well and didn't do so well. In my opinion, she remains, one year later, one of the most mysterious and unknown first ladies in history. And while we often see her -- in the background, on the sidelines, at the more traditional and expected events -- we still haven't really cracked the code for getting to know her. I'm not saying that's necessarily bad; her calculated timing and planning has served her well so far.

Mark Cuban, What Does it Mean?:
Probably nothing, but he was at the Axios one-year anniversary party last night at Nobu. There are the Cuban for Pres rumors going around, and he's made no secret of his interest in politics -- and his dislike of Trump. There were a handful of administration or administration-related people there, nonetheless, including Gary Cohn, Jason Miller, Josh Raffel and Dina Powell, but most of the guests were the usual DC notables including Susan Rice, Valerie Jarrett, Bret Baier, Tony Blinken, Wolf Blitzer, Bob Woodward, Sally Quinn, Juleanna Glover ... Here's Cuban talking to Jarrett:

Awards Season Reminder:
Dress watch: the Screen Actor's Guild Awards are Sunday night on TNT and TBS -- that's SAG Awards for you Hollywood insider types. They're more of a rollicking good time situation than the Oscars, and probably less politicized than the Golden Globes a couple of weeks ago. Also, the black dress theme for the Globes appears to not be happening for the SAGs. Stylists are pulling lots of color ...

What Washington is Talking About:
We're now less than 24 hours from a government shutdown. The House passed a short-term measure to avert a shutdown last night, and all eyes are on the Senate, where Dems have said they have enough votes to block the bill there. If the government does shut down, "non-essential" government agencies close until a spending deal is reached.

What America is Talking About:
Instagram now shows you on the DM page when users you talked to were last on the app (PSA: to turn it off, 1. go to your profile, 2. click the "options" button AKA the gear icon under your following count, 3. scroll down to where it says "Show Activity Status" and slide it to off so it isn't blue anymore).

Poll of the Day:
A CBS News poll found 73% of Americans think Trump's vulgar comments last Thursday when talking about immigrants from Haiti and Africa are "not acceptable for a president," while 17% think they are.

House Dems Move to Censure Trump:
Congressional Black Caucus chair Rep. Cedric Richmond, Rep. Jerry Nadler and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi co-sponsored a resolution to censure Trump for his NSFW comments on Haiti and African countries and call on him to retract it. Odds of it passing: v low.

Pelosi's Going to be a Guest Judge on "Drag Race":
The minority leader taped a segment as a guest judge on the upcoming season of "RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars," the spin-off series of the popular drag queen reality show. Her tweet about it was amazing. "Good luck to all the queens."

The Full Trump-Stormy Daniels Story Has Arrived:
You can read it here. Like a lot of political news these days, you're going to want to not read it with your kids. A lot of questions remain (like why did In Touch sit on this for seven years?), but one thing is certain, Trump does not like sharks, a fact that is well documented on his Twitter account.

Christie Reportedly Can't Use Special Newark Airport Entrance Anymore:
CBS New York reported that Chris Christie, who is no longer the governor of New Jersey but still has state trooper protection, tried to use a special access entrance at the Newark airport yesterday but was turned back. Christie denied the story, but a spokesperson for Port Authority told CBS New York that Christie was told "he was no longer allowed to use that access and they escorted him to the regular area."

Fashion and Politics in the Age of Trump:
To mark Trump's first year in office, CNN Digital politics producer Jeremy Moorhead and I worked together on this piece about six clothing items that told the story of the past 12 months in politics. On the list: the pussyhat, the Ivanka Trump brand, the Fred Perry polo, the Winners and Losers tee, second-gen MAGA hats, and LeBron 15s. To shoot it, I actually got to hold in my hands a pair of custom "EQUALITY" LBJ15s, which I'm guessing are worth more than the sum total of everything in my life I possess and a year's rent.

Street Art Sighting:
Today's sighting comes in music video form. The video for U2's "Get Out Of Your Own Way" was made by Israeli street art group Broken Fingaz Crew and features stop animation playing off 2017's top stories, like torch-wielding KKK members who march on the South Lawn behind Trump, and a wall (The Wall?) that goes up in flames. The group said U2 gave it "complete creative freedom" to make the clip, and the band saw the video "for the first time only when it was finished." You can watch it here.
